The fifth meeting of the Fayette County Tractor Club was held Feb. 27. The Tractor Club dues are $20 for one club, $15 if you are in two clubs. and the tractor rodeo is June 11.

SABINA — The East Clinton FFA has had a very busy but successful past few weeks with all three chapter officer books being rated gold in the state, and the ag communications team placing well at the state contest.
OSU Extension: The invasive Callery Pear
As of Jan. 1, 2023, it is now illegal to buy or sell Callery Pear and its cultivars in Ohio. This species quickly became a popular option for landscapes due to its signature, vibrant white flowers in the spring and the glowing red leaves in the fall. Despite the smelly aroma they put off in the spring, this recent news has created even more stink around Callery Pear. The tree’s ability to reproduce, spread, and sustain harsh environmental conditions landed it on the Ohio Invasive species list in 2018 and the 5 -year grace period has now ended in 2023, making the plant illegal to buy or sell in the state. The Ohio Administrative Code, Rule 901:5-30-01 also lists 37 other species as invasives in Ohio.

4-H Tractor Club elects officers
At the Jan. 30 meeting, the Fayette County 4-H Tractor Club elected officers. Gus Wilt was elected president, Clint Wilt as vice president, Eli Miller as secretary, AJ Armintrout was elected as treasurer, and both Michael Cook and Charlie Reeves will serve as news reporters. Ike Mavis will serve as the health reporter, Henry Meyer as environmental officer and Balen Hesel will serve as the safety reporter.
