What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

Carnegie Public Library and Jeffersonville Library will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observation of Memorial Day.

Both locations will reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31. Remember, your access to the Ohio Digital Library is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week! Check out books, movies, and more from your couch or cookout with just your library card!

Jump into Summer Reading on Wednesday, June 1! Parents and children are invited to the library to sign up for the Summer Reading Program and to register for fun events scheduled throughout the month of June! The first of our “Fayette Field Trips” takes places on Tuesday, June 7 at 2 p.m. at the City of Washington Court House Fire Department. Talk to a real firefighter and get an opportunity to board the truck. The following day, Wednesday, June 8 at 11 a.m., join us for a tour of JD Equipment! There is lots of equipment to explore and learn about! All tours are open to all ages. To find out more about “Fayette Field Trips” and all of our summer offerings, pick up a copy of our summer newsletter, or check out our website today.

The following week, on Friday, June 10 at 11 a.m. COSI will present “The Incredible Human Machine” at Cherry Hill Elementary Cafeteria. COSI’s “Body Mechanic” helps students learn what it takes to keep their body engines in tip-top shape. Explore the digestive, nervous, and circulatory systems, plus learn about nutrients and how exercise keeps a body healthy. This is a high energy program designed to delight everyone, and is best-suited to children in grades K-6. And remember, storytime is back all summer long! Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. is Preschool Storytime for children 4 to 6-years-old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 to 3-years-old. Siblings are welcome at either session.

Adults and teens, Summer Reading Program is for you too! Stop in the library and learn more about our weekly prize drawings for our dedicated Adult & Teen readers. Not sure what to read? Check out our displays of brain-stretching books and new releases, or browse the stacks for a forgotten favorite. You never know what you might find!

Adults, do you live with diabetes? Food allergies? High blood pressure? Join Pat Brinkman from OSU Extension on Wednesday, June 15 at 3 p.m. for an eye opening program about reading and understanding food labels and nutrition facts on common grocery items. This program will take place in the library meeting room.

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! June 7 is “Ducks, Ducks, Ducks!” On Wednesday, June 8 at 11 a.m., stop in for “Father’s Day Craft.” Make a card and a cool “Minion” paperweight for Dad! Then, on Thursday, June, 9 at 11 a.m., we will host an American Sign Language Class with Jenny Benedetti. These programs are for all ages.
