It was Washington Middle School night on a beautiful Monday evening as the Washington Lady Lions (3-5, 1-2 FAC) hosted the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers (4-6, 1-3 FAC) in a Frontier Athletic Conference softball contest.

Prior to the start of the game, the 7th and 8th grade Lady Lion softball teams were recognized. WMS sixth grade teacher Amy Knisley threw out the ceremonial first pitch as well.

Once play started, the Lady Cavaliers took control and cruised to a 16-1 victory.

Chillicothe led 6-0 after two innings and 10-1 after five innings, before a six-run sixth inning brought them to the game’s final score.

Washington’s lone run came in the bottom of inning number four.

Haycook led off the inning with a double to right field. Alizae Ryan grounded out to move Haycook to third. Addison Knisley then reached on an error which scored Haycook. Shaw and Mikhaylee Ragland both singled to load the bases with just one out. Unfortunately, the Lady Cavs were able to turn a double play during the next at-bat to get out of the inning.

Offensively for the Lady Lions, they collected four hits with one extra base hit.

Haycook was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Knisley was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Shaw and Ragland were both 1-for-3.
