Blue Lions third, Panthers seventh at Sectional bowling tournament

KETTERING — On Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Poelking Lanes, the Blue Lions Varsity Boys placed third and the Miami Trace placed seventh in the DI Southwest District Sectional Tournament, with both teams advancing to the District Tournament.

After the three regular games, the Blue Lions were sitting in second place by 21 pins behind Kettering Fairmont. When it came to baker games, the Washington boys were on fire. After the first three baker games, the Blue Lion boys were sitting in first followed by Fairmont and Beavercreek. On baker number five, they shot a 279 which is really impressive for a baker game.

It came down to the last balls rolled, as in the end Beavercreek ended up winning followed by Fairmont, then the Blue Lions who missed first place by 11 pins. The boys managed to finish third in a challenging tournament which allowed them to move onto Districts.

Washington senior Luke Crabtree shot the highest individual series with a 717. Blue Lion junior Nick Walker had the second-highest series with a 713. Junior Mason Mullins was 11th with a 647 series. Junior Jon Rader shot a 597 series.

Miami Trace’s highest individual bowler was senior Jake Manbevers who was sixth with a 670 series. Sophomore Cole Whiteside shot a 551 series and senior Bryce Stuckey shot a 550 series.

The boys bowling teams will bowl next Friday at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek to compete in the District Tournament.
