Miami Trace baseball beats Chillicothe, 8-3

The Miami Trace Panthers varsity baseball team hosted the Cavaliers of Chillicothe High School in a Frontier Athletic Conference game Monday, April 10.

Chillicothe scored first, but the Panthers scored the most, posting an 8-3 win.

Miami Trace is now 5-1 overall, 1-0 in the FAC.

Brady Armstrong started and got the win on the mound for the Panthers. He pitched 5.2 innings with five hits, two runs (none earned), two walks and four strikeouts.

Xavier Lawhorn pitched one inning for Miami Trace with two hits, one unearned run and two strikeouts.

Gaige Stuckey pitched one-third of an inning for the Panthers.

Brown started and took the loss for Chillicothe. He pitched 3.1 innings with two hits, seven runs (five earned), three walks and two strikeouts.

Oyer pitched 2.2 innings with two hits, one unearned run, one walk and two strikeouts.

Cooper Enochs batted lead-off for the Panthers and went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Armstrong had one hit and drove in one run and Cole Little singled and scored.

Stuckey walked, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs.

Wyatt Hicks walked three times, was hit by a pitch and scored one run; Austin Boedeker was hit by a pitch and scored a run and Evan Colegrove had two RBI.

Stuckey, Enochs and Dillon Hyer each had one stolen base and Hyer scored one run.

At the plate for Chillicothe, Brown was 2 for 4 with two runs scored; Spaulding had one hit, Hutchinson had one hit, scored one run and swiped two bases; Butler had two hits, including a double and drove in one run; Barr had one hit and one stolen base.

Miami Trace is at Jackson Wednesday and at Mitchell Park in Greenfield to play McClain Thursday. The Panthers host Hillsboro Friday. Weekday games start at 5 p.m.

The Panthers play at Eastern Saturday at 11 a.m.
