Panthers win 9th, j-v games against Chillicothe

On Friday, Jan. 27, the Miami Trace High School freshman and junior-varsity boys basketball teams hosted the Cavaliers from Chillicothe High School.

Miami Trace won the freshman game, 22-20.

The Panthers won the junior-varsity game, 34-17.

In the j-v game for Miami Trace, Grant Guess was the game’s leading scorer with 15 points. He made four of the team’s six three-point field goals.

Connor Napier and Skye Salyers both scored four points for the Panthers. Salyers had one three-point basket.

A trio of players — Trey Robinette, Adam Guthrie and Pierce McCarty — each scored three points. Robinette’s points came on a three-point bucket.

Cade Whitaker scored two points for Miami Trace.

Malachi James had five points to lead Chillicothe. Five other players each scored two points and two others contributed one point each for the Cavaliers.

Cade Whitaker led the Panthers in the freshman game with 12 points. He connected on both of Miami Trace’s three-point field goals.

Connor Napier scored five points, Ian Rayburn had three and Luke Armstrong scored two.
