What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

Coming up: Join us for our annual visit from New York Times bestselling author Margaret Peterson Haddix! This year’s visit will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Miami Trace Elementary School. Ms. Haddix will be discussing the final books in the “Missing” and “Palace Chronicles” series and we will learn about her upcoming books. Afterwards, there will plenty of time for questions, photos and autographs. Door prizes will also be given away.

This week, Chace at the Jeffersonville Branch Library told us how he “geeks” the library: “I geek the movies from the library because they help me learn and entertain me during odd and occupied hours. Medieval times are my favorite kinds of movies.” This time of year, we can hardly keep Christmas movies on the shelf! Whether your go-to is a classic, like White Christmas, or a new favorite like Elf, the library has your holiday favorites. If the movie you are looking for is not on our shelf, let us request it and call you when it is available!

Stop by the Carnegie Public Library to see the newest works from Creative Court House! Photos on display at the library are the work of students who participated in a photography workshop. The classes covered camera basics, aperture/shutter speed, how to use your camera settings to maximize available light using flash and reflectors, basic composition, tips and tricks for better portraits, and more! Stop by the library or check out Court House Creative on Facebook for more information about upcoming classes.

For kids: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session. On Saturday, Dec. 12, children of all ages can stop in any time from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to “Make & Take” a holiday craft! The Children’s Department is sure to delight with their beautiful holiday decorations! While you are here, be sure to take a peek upstairs at our festive nine foot Christmas tree!

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! Just in time for Christmas: Holiday Crafternoons! Join us for this craft workshop to make Christmas gifts for your loved ones! This is for all ages and takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 4 p.m.

Information about all of our programs may be found on the library’s website www.cplwcho.org, or by calling the Washington Court House Library at 740-335-2540 and the Jeffersonville Library at 740-426-9292. Check us out on Facebook!
