The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

July 19 – 1430 Columbus Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a general fire alarm. FD was notified via radio by dispatch that hospital personnel advise of a false alarm, construction dust activated the alarm just prior to arrival. FD confirmed there was no problem with security/maintenance personnel who advised work is being done in room 112.

July 18 – mm 92 US 35 W

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a single-vehicle accident versus deer, with airbag deployment. FD was notified via radio by dispatch the accident scene was located by deputies outside of union Township near the ninety-two (92) mile marker and within the jurisdiction of Wayne Township. FD advised it would continue until it was canceled. FD found a single vehicle upright, on all four (4) wheels and pulled off into the berm of the South side of the roadway and facing West with no visible smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD used a defensive blocking position to establish a safe working area and controlling the flow of Westbound traffic. FD confirmed with deputies there was no entrapment and confirmed with all occupants there were no injuries. FD checked the vehicle for safety, disconnected the battery and advised responding units from Wayne Township of the situation and status of the incident.

July 18 – 5071 Washington-Waterloo Road

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a fire alarm activation, upstairs smoke detector. FD was notified via radio by dispatch to cancel its’ response, the homeowner reports dust from construction set off the alarm.

July 18 – Armbrust Road

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a two-vehicle accident with injuries. FD found both vehicles upright on all four wheels in the intersection and facing southwest, with no smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD defensively positioned the apparatus to establish a safe work area and control the flow of traffic. FD confirmed there was no entrapment, checked both vehicles for safety and applied absorbency to fluids on the roadway.

July 18 – 207 S. Fayette St. Lot 27

Received call reporting an unattended fire. FD found light smoke and a small fire burning within a tree stump at the time of arrival. FD was unable to make contact with the occupants and extinguished the fire.

July 18 – 917 John St.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requesting a first response with Fayette County EMS. FD provided manpower.

July 18 – Wilwood Road

FD received station tones for a tree limb across the roadway. FD arrived on scene and found a tree limb across the end and the limb was still attached to the tree. FD told the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to contact the Fayette County engineer’s office or the township to have the limb removed.

July 18 – 929 Forest St.

FD received a call for a gas check. FD arrived on scene and the occupant advised FD that he was smelling sewer gas. FD did a check and did not detect any methane gas at the time of check. FD advised the occupant that their meter did not detect any gas at that time.
