The Good Hope Lions recently presented Lion Denver Hixon with the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award at its annual Ladies Night Christmas Dinner at the Crown Room.

The Melvin Jones Fellow Award is the highest award a club can bestow and is named after the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones. Melvin Jones started Lions Clubs in Chicago in 1917 in order to serve those in his community who were in need. Today, Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service organization with over 1.2 million members.
