Add reading to your family’s New Year’s goals! Families who read enjoy a multitude of benefits at no cost. Children ages 5 and up, and adults of all ages, qualify for a Carnegie Public Library card. Borrowing privileges extend to statewide collections of both physical and digital content, as well as on-demand streaming content and more than 40,000 volumes right here in Washington Court House. Let your library card work for you!

Preschool aged children are invited to Bonnie’s Books in Jeffersonville on Tuesdays at 11 a.m., and Hello, Friends! on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Storytime is a great place to socialize, develop listening and literacy skills, and enjoy stories, crafts, songs, and playtime!

Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m., the public is invited to “Healthy Living Brain & Body” with the Central Ohio Alzheimer’s Association. Learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and how to integrate habits that will promote healthy aging. Please call ahead to register.

Thursday, Jan. 19 at 4:30 p.m., Create with Noel! Children ages 5-12 are invited to hone their art skills using new techniques and materials.

Encore! Bigfoot is back! Join Dusty Ruth, investigator for Bigfoot Research Organization (BFRO) and member of Northern Kentucky Research Group, as he shares stories, notes, and insight into this elusive creature. This event takes place Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. Adults and families welcome! Space is limited; please call to reserve your seat.

Also on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m., children and families are invited to Shaw Wetlands to a Winter Walk at the Wetlands. The Storybook trail at the wetlands features a new book, so come take a walk with library staff and Fayette Soil and Water. Carnegie Public Library & Fayette Soil and Water will host four “Get Outside” programs this year, one for each season. This winter walk is the first: Can you meet us in Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall?

It’s time to be a hero! The library is having a PJ Masks Party. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m., children ages 3-8 are invited for stories, activities, and fun. Please call ahead to register, space is limited.

Mark your calendar and let the buzz begin! Carnegie Public Library’s fifth-annual Adult Spelling Bee is on the horizon. Join us Friday, Feb. 10 for a new challenge. Who will “bee” this year’s champion?
