The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):
Dec 30— 1121 E Paint St.
FD assisted Fayette County EMS.
Dec 30— 346 Jamison Road
FD assisted Fayette County EMS.
Dec 30— 1400 Old Chillicothe Road
FD received station tone for an alarm activation for water flow. FD arrived on scene and was advised by the security guards that an employee had hit and broke a pipe to the sprinkler system. They advised FD that they had the water flow shut off and were shutting the pump off.
Dec 29— 811 McLean St.
FD received station tone for a vehicle fire. FD arrived on scene and found a vehicle with smoke going from under the hood. FD tried to open but had to pry the hood open. FD personnel opened the hood and sprayed the engine compartment with water. FD personnel did not see fire in the engine compartment when they opened the hood. FD checked the passenger compartment for any fire extension, and didn’t find any signs that the fire got into the passenger compartment at the time that they checked. FD returned to the station. FD’s investigation found that the fire started in the area of the engine compartment, and the cause is undetermined at the time of investigation.
Dec 29— Allen Road
FD received station tones to assist Jeffersonville FD, for smoke in the building. On arrival, Washington FD operated under the direction of units from station 590. Washington FD assisted with accessing and investigating around the elevator car, elevator shaft, and elevator control rooms. Washington FD reported findings to 590 units on scene.
Dec 29— 38 Dunbar Ct.
FD assisted Fayette County EMS.
Dec 28— 1809 Columbus Ave.
FD was dispatched to a fire alarm but was canceled en route.
Dec 28— 406 Clyburn Ave.
FD was requested to first respond for Fayette County EMS.
Dec 28— 128 W. Elm St.
FD responded to a report of an occupied residential structure. En route, FD was advised that the occupants were out of the building. Upon arrival, FD found a two-story, wood frame residential structure. Heavy smoke was coming from the eaves and the attic space, and fire was visible through an open entry door on the first floor. FD completed a 360 survey of the structure and removed sections of fence to gain access to the rear door. FD stretched a line through the open entry door and extinguished the visible fire on the first floor. A second hose line was put into operation on the B side of the structure to protect an exposure and extinguish visible fire. Interior crews gained access to the second floor to find heavy smoke and heat, but had difficulty accessing the fire. The second story was laddered with ground ladders for safety. FD requested the aerial truck to come to the scene to access the second floor and attic space. Two mutual aid FD were requested for manpower and apparatus. FD initially secured a fire hydrant for a water supply, then a tanker shuttle was utilized to provide water due to a water supply issue within the city. A drafting site was established to fill tankers. FD requested utility providers to the scene to secure their respective utility. The aerial ladder was used to extinguish the fire in the attic space. With the main body of the fire extinguished, interior crews performed overhaul to expose and extinguish the remaining fire. No injuries were reported. Two dogs were removed from the structure and turned over to the pet owners for care. The structure and contents sustained heavy damage. The cause of the fire is unknown.
