Dr. Norma Kirby, co-chairman of the Miami Trace Renewal Levy Campaign, recently spoke with Fayette County Retired Teachers Association (FCRTA) about the Miami Trace Renewal Levy Campaign.
The district has an issue on the May 3 primary ballot to renew a five-year, 3.2-mill emergency operating levy to avoid an operating deficit. This is not a new levy but a renewal of an operating levy set to expire.
The levy money will be used for district operations, including personnel, purchased services, supplies and equipment. Kirby explained that this is a dollar-based levy meaning that the district is to receive $1,9000,000 from the levy. She noted that there has been a tax revenue decrease of approximately $821,030 annually from Tanger Outlet Mall (now Destinations) and $451,633 annually from Rockies Express Pipeline.
