Lady Lions sweep DH from Western

The Washington Lady Blue Lion varsity softball team hosted a doubleheader with Western (Latham) Saturday, April 2.

Washington swept the twin bill, winning the first game, 11-0 in five innings and the second game, 18-5.

In the first game, Makenna Knisley pitched five innings for Washington, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.

Ware took the loss with four innings pitched, 10 hits, 11 runs (three earned) with seven strikeouts and five walks.

Washington scored three runs in the bottom of the first, and exploded for eight runs in the fourth.

Kassidy Olsson went 3 for 3 with two runs scored.

Addison Knisley had two hits, including a double, with one RBI and one run scored.

Makenna Knisley had a double and drove in two runs.

Mallori Tucker had one hit, scored two and drove in one run.

Meredith Pabst walked twice and scored two runs.

Haven McGraw had one hit and one RBI.

Madison Haithcock had one hit, scored one and drove in two runs.

Kassie Wiseman had one hit, one run and one RBI.

Kalana Smith walked and scored and Havannah Burns scored one run.

In the second game, Washington had back-to-back 8-run innings in the first and second and rolled to an 18-5 victory.

Kalana Smith started in the circle for Washington and pitched five innings for the win.

She allowed nine hits and five runs (three earned) with six strikeouts and one walk.

Whitley was the losing pitcher for Western. She pitched four innings with 14 hits and 18 runs (seven earned) with seven strikeouts and five walks.

Kassidy Olsson went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.

Makenna Knisley went 3 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and five runs batted in.

Smith had two hits, scored two and drove in three.

Cadie Cupp had two hits and scored two runs.

Lilly Shaw hit a double and scored one run; Adysun Bartruff had one hit, one run scored and one RBI; Madison Haithcock had a double, scored two and drove in three runs; Kassidy Hoppes went 1 for 3 with two runs scored.

Beekman, Ferneau, Elliott and Whitley each had two hits for Western. Ferneau and Elliott each hit a double.

Washington (3-2 overall) is scheduled to play at Westfall Tuesday and host Jackson Wednesday at 5 p.m.
