Altrusa International of Washington C.H. awarded one of two $500 scholarships to Brooke Heinz, a Miami Trace High School graduate, at its June 7 business meeting.

Brooke will be attending Kettering College where she will study the science of nursing. Altrusa awards scholarships each year for two female graduates of Fayette County’s public high schools.

Altrusans raise funds for scholarships through projects such as the upcoming eighth-annual Loving Spoonsful tasting luncheon, scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Commission on Aging. Each year’s event grows resulting in additional resources being contributed to benefit local community organizations.

Altrusa is an international non-profit association of women and men who volunteer their energies and expertise to make our local communities better through leadership, partnership and service. Altrusa of Washington Court House has been serving Fayette County for 43 years.
