Two local DECA members, Trevor Minyo and Sam Schroeder, recently competed in the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Minyo competed in the Retail Merchandising Individual Series Event and placed in the top 20 of 280 competitors, earning a spot in the finals. Minyo is the second student from Washington High School DECA to place in the top 20 of an individual event.

Schroeder competed in the Food Marketing Individual Series Event.

In order to compete at ICDC, competitors must place in the top four in both the district and state competitions for their event. Minyo placed first in the district and third at the state competition. Schroeder placed second in the district and took first place in the state competition. At ICDC, Minyo and Schroeder represent the top 5 percent of all DECA students around the world.

Minyo and Schroeder are officers of the Washington High School DECA club, a satellite program of Great Oaks. Trevor is the vice president of communications and Sam is the secretary/treasurer at large. Both students would like to thank Altrusa for their continued support in sending students to ICDC and Great Oaks for organizing the trip.
