MT softball wins weekend pair

CIRCLEVILLE — The Miami Trace Lady Panthers varsity softball team went on the road for a tri-match against Waverly and Circleville.

Miami Trace defeated Circleville, 3-2 and beat Waverly, 10-6.

In the game against Circleville, Maddie Mossbarger was the winning pitcher.

She pitched seven innings with five hits, two unearned runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

For Miami Trace, Taylor Barrett went 2 for 4 with a double, Olivia Wolffe was 2 for 3 with two runs; Ally Smith went 2 for 3 with one RBI and Kylee Rossiter was 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Miami Trace scored the first run of the game in the top of the second.

Wolffe singled, followed by a hit from Jordan Bernard. Smith drove Wolffe in with a single.

Circleville took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third.

Miami Trace tied the game with a run in the top of the fifth.

Cassidy Lovett hit a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Ashley Campbell singled, scoring Lovett.

The Lady Panthers took the lead with a run in the top of the sixth.

Wolffe singled and later scored on a single by Kylee Rossiter.

The win was the seventh in a row for Miami Trace.

In the game against Waverly, Olivia Wolffe was the winning pitcher.

She pitched seven innings with nine hits and six runs (four earned) with eight strikeouts and five walks.

Kaylee Hauck went 4 for 5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored for the Lady Panthers.

Wolffe was 3 for 4 with one double and three RBI.

Miami Trace had to come from behind in this game as Waverly scored three in the top of the third.

Hauck scored for Miami Trace in the bottom of the first.

After a scoreless second, Waverly tacked on another run to make it 4-1.

Miami Trace scored seven runs in the fourth inning to go in front, 8-4.

Wolffe led off with a single and Kylee Rossiter came in to run for her.

Jessica Camp walked, followed by a single by Tori Riley.

With the bases loaded, Tabby Landrum was hit by a pitch.

Hauck singled in a run and Cassidy Lovett hit into a fielder’s choice for another run.

Ashley Campbell walked and Brooke Henry walked. Wolffe came to the plate and hit a double, driving in two.

Waverly scored two in the fifth and Miami Trace cancelled those runs with two in the bottom of the fifth.

Campbell walked and Taylor Barrett followed with a double for an RBI.

Henry singled Barrett in from second.
