Fayette Firearms club holds first two meetings

The first meeting of the season for the Fayette Firearms 4-H Club was held at the Fayette County Fish and Game Lodge on Jan. 26.

At the meeting, the old minutes were read and officers for the 2016 4-H year were elected.

The club officers are president Wesley Milstead, vice president Ben Speakman, treasurer Kyler Batson, news reporter Lexi Hagler, safety officer Derek Bichum, flag bearer Alex King and range officer Anita Pursell.

The next meeting was to be held on Feb. 9 at the Fish and Game Lodge with refreshments being served by Lexi Hagler and Anita Pursell.

The second meeting was held on Feb. 21. Due to inclement weather the Feb. 9 meeting was cancelled.

Meeting minutes were read and demonstrations were given by Linnie King, Wesley Milstead, Alex King, Jayden Brown and Trevor Pursell. Both new and old business were discussed, and the club decided on their community service and fund raising projects.

Community service for the club will be picking up the range at the Fish and Game Lodge and a community food drive. Topics discussed were raffle tickets and theme baskets.

The next meeting will be held at the Fish and Game Lodge on March 8 at 5:30 p.m.

The club also participated in 4-H Week, Feb. 8-12, by decorating the window at Six Insurance Services. Pictured (L to R): Garrett Speakman, Ben Speakman and Kyler Batson.
