Two township trustee races and two township fiscal officer races were contested this year throughout Fayette County at Tuesday’s general election.
In Jasper Township, incumbent Richard Anders defeated Tyler Kingery by a 161-90 margin, according to unofficial results from the Fayette County Board of Elections.
Two were also vying for the office of Paint Township fiscal officer: incumbent Richard Barton won by a 252-192 margin over Tonya D. Fleak, according to unofficial results.
In Wayne Township, trustee Jim Cooper didn’t run for another term as trustee, but ran ran for the township’s fiscal officer position. Incumbent fiscal officer Cindy Seaton defeated Cooper by a 307-164, according to unofficial results. In the race for Wayne Township Trustee, David Batson defeated Jarrod Posey by a 266-192 margin, according to unofficial results.
Neither local school district’s board of education had a contested race during the general election. At Miami Trace, Charlie Andrews, with 2,487 votes, and Bruce Kirkpatrick, with 2,348 votes, will return to the school board for another term.
At Washington City Schools, Jennifer Lynch, with 1,672 votes, and Craig Copas, with 1,558 votes, will return to the board for another term. Newcomer James A. Teeters was also elected to the Washington City school board with 1,518 votes. Incumbent Mark Chris did not run this election.
