Fire Chief Hauer educates library patrons

Jeffersonville Branch Library’s Community Hero Spotlight was on Aaron Hauer, fire chief of Jeffersonville’s fire department. He gave some fire safety tips, such as never play with matches or lighters, in case of a fire, once you are out of the house, stay out. Don’t go back for your stuff. The firefighters will try to save the memories for you. The fire department is also offering free smoke detectors. They will install them in your house and the batteries last 10 years. The program began at the library and ended with a tour of the local fire station. Pictured are Jeffersonville Fire Chief Aaron Hauer, Dannielynn Docter, Lane Coe, Jordyn Allen, Dalton Copas, Devin Miller, Jaden Allen, Devon Jenkins, Desirae Pratt and Calvin Miller.

Local firefighter Devon Jenkins demonstrated what a firefighter looks like with all his fire gear on so when he comes into your house to fight a fire, you won’t be scared because firefighters want you to come to them if you need help.
