The First Church of the Nazarene, located at 990 State Route 41 Southwest in Washington Court House, in concert with District Superintendent Dr. Douglas Van Nest, of the South Western Ohio District Church of the Nazarene has appointed Rev. Vernon E. Hurles as their interim pastor.
Hurles is a native of Washington C.H. and is the fourth son of William and Bertha Hurles.
He attended Washington High School, Trevecca Nazarene University, Marion University, Olivet Nazarene University and Emmanuel Bible College and Seminary with a B.A. in Christian education. Pastor and Mrs. Hurles (Joyce) have served the Church of the Nazarene for 55 years in the pastoral and evangelistic ministries.
They are the parents of five children; Laura, Timothy, Debra, Philip and the late Nathan.
His appointment follows the faithful 10 year ministry of Rev. Daniel Justice, former pastor of First Nazarene who recently retired.
During the transitional search for a new pastor, the church will continue all of their ministries to the community: Sunday school: 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship: 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Prayer Praise and Bible Study 7 p.m.
