Fire in the Sky is fast approaching its deadline. The 2015 fireworks show will be held on July 3 on the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Donations are still needed to help facilitate the biggest and best show of the last 15 years.
According to Dan Fowler, president of Fire in the Sky, “This is a critical donation event and the success of Fire in the Sky relies heavily on community donations.”
The date for this drive-thru donation day is Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Washington Fire Station. You may drive through the station or walk in. Donations may be made by cash, check and by most major credit cards. Fire in the Sky t-shirts and hats, available at many locations throughout the county, will also be available at the drive-thru. WVNU 97.5 Radio will be live at the fire station for this event.
According to Anne Quinn, children’s department, Carnegie Public Library, “The art contest sponsored by Fire in the Sky is generating a lot of interest.” The contest is open to children ages 6 to 12. Create a work of art that expresses the “Spirit of America” and deliver it to Carnegie Library by 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20. The winner will be notified and announced on Monday, June 29.
The winner, and her/his immediate family, will win the opportunity to enjoy a front row view of the fireworks show on July 3 and an opportunity to attend a special sponsor night on July 2. Several projects have been entered into the contest.
Fowler is fond of saying, “No donation is too big.” Your donation will enable many people to enjoy an evening of fire in the sky celebrating not only the birthday of this country, but 15 years of service by the Fire in the Sky committee.
