Coming up in September: The Carnegie Public Library and Jeffersonville Library will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 5. Both locations will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, Carnegie Library will host staff from SEO Library Consortium for “On-Demand Training: Dominate your Devices.” There will be tips and tricks for all parents, students, teachers, and library users of all ages. At 1 p.m. join us for a Windows 10 tutorial; 3:30 p.m. Troubleshooting ebooks, BookMyne, and Digital Magazines; and at 4:30 p.m. Introduction to Library Services & Databases. Bring your own device or laptop, or use one of the iPads provided: No registration required.

Friday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m, the Carnegie Book Club will meet to discuss The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. From Amazon.com: “In these eighteen startling tales…The Illustrated Man is a kaleidoscopic blending of magic, imagination, and truth—as exhilarating as interplanetary travel, as maddening as a walk in a million-year rain, and as comforting as simple, familiar rituals on the last night of the world.” Intrigued? Pick up your copy today and join us!

The Carnegie Public Library is pleased to announce the purchase of an art print, to be dedicated in memory of former library director Poppy Girton. The print features a poppy flower, and will hang above the fireplace in the library. Poppy served Carnegie Public Library for more than 25 years, and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. Individuals and organizations wishing to contribute to the purchase of this memorial may do so at the library, during normal business hours. Details about the art print are also available.

In Washington Court House: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., is Preschool Storytime for children 4 – 6 years old and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., is Books & Blocks for children 1 – 3 years old. Siblings are welcome at either session. Sept. 6 and 8 will feature a “Back to School “theme! Also each Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m., the library is introducing a new “Books & Babies” program! “Books & Babies” is a 15-minute session specifically created for our youngest patrons to look at board books, do finger plays, bounce on laps and explore. This early literacy time will introduce your baby to the library, and the world of books!

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week features a new theme! Tuesday, Aug. 30 is “Solar System.”

Information about all of our programs may be found on the library’s website www.cplwcho.org, or by calling the Washington Court House Library at 740-335-2540 and the Jeffersonville Library at 740-426-9292.
