Stop by the Carnegie Public Library to see the newest works from Creative Court House! Photos on display at the library are the work of students who participated in a Beginning and Intermediate Photography Workshop. The classes covered camera basics, aperture/shutter speed, how to use your camera settings to maximize available light using flash and reflectors, basic composition, tips and tricks for better portraits, and more!

Stop by the library or check out Court House Creative on Facebook for more information about upcoming classes. Photos will remain on display until May 27.

Did you know that many of your favorite authors, genres, and magazines are available online through the Carnegie Library catalog? Or that research is now a “one stop shop?” Check out Carnegie Public Library’s eResource Central where a single search will yield books, eBooks, articles, DVDs, streaming video and more! Let library resources help you plan lessons by directing you to current and age-appropriate materials; select your new appliance with “Consumer Reports”; or find a new favorite book or author with “NoveList Plus!”

Adults: Coming up, the 2016 Classics Book Club will meet on Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m. to discuss The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Also in May, Chris Parsons from “MUFON” (Mutual UFO Network) will visit the library to speak with the community about his years of research into the phenomenon of unidentified flying objects, and to hear about the personal experiences of individuals in our community. “MUFON” has been featured on CNN, History Channel, National Geographic, and more! Check out their website at www.mufon.com, then join us Saturday, May 21 at 12 p.m. in the library meeting room!

For kids: Preschool Storytime and Books & Blocks is on hiatus until June 7. While the librarians busy themselves with Summer Reading Program preparations, Sarah Sowell from OSU Extension will visit for three special programs for all preschoolers! “Yummy in My Tummy Story Time” will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 10, 17, and 24. Join us! The next meeting of the Carnegie Youth Garden Club will take place on Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m. We will plant our garden using the tomato seedlings from the first meeting, as well as some other garden goodies!

In Jeffersonville: Every Tuesday at 11 a.m., come listen to stories, play instruments, create crafts, and socialize with other little friends at Toddler Time. Each week is a new theme! May 3 is “Celebrate Moms!” Coming up on Wednesday, May 4 at 4 p.m. all ages are invited to make a Mother’s Day craft! Help make “mom” feel appreciated with a beaded candle craft and card. Registration is required. Thursday, May 5 all ages are welcome to “May Day Bingo” at 4:30 p.m.

Information about all of our programs may be found on the library’s website www.cplwcho.org, or by calling the Washington Court House Library at 740-335-2540 and the Jeffersonville Library at 740-426-9292.
