WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — A new auction house is booming in Washington Court House.

Daniel M. DeGarmo, of Chillicothe, opened a second location for his Double D Auction business. The Chillicothe location is at 2500 Western Ave. and the Washington C.H. location took over the space at 704 Millwood Ave., formerly run by auctioneer Roger Warner.

DeGarmo opened this location a few months ago and local resident and auctioneer Jimmy Starr is the manager. Their auctions are on Thursdays and have a variety of goods to sell. For example, their next auction will feature a truckload of Lowe’s quality goods, according to DeGarmo.

DeGarmo became a resident of Chillicothe in 2006 after leaving his ministry work in Canada to start a church in Ross County as a pastor. DeGarmo is married and the father of eight children. In 2016 he opened Double D Auction House next door to his Chillicothe church. He received his full auctioneer’s license in 2019, upgrading from an apprentice license. DeGarmo then studied and passed the exam to get his real estate and appraisal license to sell and auction properties.

The WCH Double D Auction has various sources to acquire the goods to be auctioned, such as estates, and has now started accepting consignments from local residents once a month. Another new option offers the purchase of a small lot, garage or house full of goods by getting auctioneer Jimmy Starr to come to your location, view your property and buy it outright.

DeGarmo also built a new room in his Chillicothe location for a spin-off auction for sports cards called “Whatnot.com” and it can be accessed through his Facebook auction site. There are various collectibles sold there, such as vintage records, jewelry, blaster boxes of all sports and he buys sports cards outright from sellers. Double D Auction also has several online only auctions on his Facebook site weekly.

DeGarmo said that he strives to work for the seller for maximum return, but he also works with the buyer for full satisfaction of purchases. Double D Auction sells new, antique, collectible or individual items, box lots, and even full pallets of goods at both locations.
