Multiple events planned locally for Veterans Day

Multiple events are planned around Fayette County in honor of Veterans Day over the course of several days.

The first event scheduled to take place is a free breakfast for veterans on Friday, Nov. 10 at Miami Trace High School. The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. with a program to follow.

Ed Helt, a member of the local American Legion Post 25 and chairman of the Americanism and Government program, will announce the Miami Trace High School winners of the Americanism Test during this ceremony.

Washington High School will be providing a free breakfast for veterans from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, with Helt’s announcement of the Washington High School winners of the Americanism Test and a Veterans Day program to follow.

The final event on Friday will be a Veterans Day program at Fayette Christian School from 2-2:45 p.m. where Americanism Test winners from FCS will be recognized.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, the American Legion Post 25 will be hosting a free dinner for veterans from 5-7 p.m.

Finally, on Friday, Nov. 17, the Fayette County Commission on Aging will hold a free lunch for veterans beginning at 11:15 a.m. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Thursday, Nov. 9.
