Blue Lions’ Wightman, Miami Trace’s Bennett, Cooper, qualify to cross country Regional meet

RIO GRANDE — A trio of student-athletes — one from Washington High School and two from Miami Trace High School — have qualified to the DII Southeast Regional cross country meet on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Pickerington North High School.

Avery Wightman of Washington, a sophomore, has advanced to the Regional, finishing in 24th place out of 169 runners in the race with a time of 17:51.33.

For Miami Trace, freshman Karleigh Cooper and junior Kamika Bennett have qualified for the Regional meet.

Bennett placed 27th out of a field of 142 runners with a time of 21:49.90.

Coopers finished in 30th place in a time of 21:52.54.

The Division II girls race is scheduled to start at noon and the Division II boys race has a starting time of 12:45 p.m.
