The Miami Trace High School boys soccer team hosted Chillicothe for a Frontier Athletic Conference match with the Cavaliers Thursday, Sept. 21.

Chillicothe led 2-0 at the half.

However, the Cavs scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second half on their way to a 7-0 win.

Miami Trace has been playing without a couple of players, but is hoping to get one of them back, head coach Josh Thoroman said.

It is a long series of frustration for the Panthers versus Chillicothe in soccer, dating back to the latter days of the most recent incarnation of the now defunct South Central Ohio League.

“Chillicothe is the better team,” Thoroman said. “That’s why they’ve won the league (several) years in a row.

“As far as our effort, our effort was there,” Thoroman said. “The guys played really hard. You can’t doubt that they all gave 100 percent.”

Miami Trace (4-6-1, 1-3-1) plays another FAC match, this one at McClain High School in Greenfield, Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Panthers host Hillsboro for an FAC match Thursday at 7 p.m.
