Shelby Bumpus of Fayette Christian School was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Milford PAWS Volleyball Invitational.
MILFORD — The Fayette Christian School Lady Crusaders volleyball team won the j-v section of the Milford PAWS Volleyball Invitational recently.
The team defeated the host Milford Bulldogs on Friday with a 25-20, 25-21 decision.
Tori Peterson and Shelby Bumpus led the Crusaders with 10 service points each. The team also had a serve percentage of 90 during the contest.
On Saturday the team returned for an early morning contest but made easy work, defeating Answer Christian Academy from Kentucky by a 25-7, 25-4 score.
In that match, Shelby Bumpus set a new school record with eight ace serves in a set. Her total broke the old school record of Luisa Epifano who had seven against Hillsboro on Aug. 28.
The team also set a new school record with 25 ace serves during the match.
In the finals, it was a rematch between FCS and Milford. The Lady Crusaders improved their record to 6-2 for the season with a 25-19, 25-19 win.
Tori Peterson led the team with 10 serving points in the match.
