WHS announces details on homecoming week festivities

Washington High School (WHS) announced the homecoming activities going on this week both at WHS as well as the entire Washington Court House City School District.

Spirit Week:

Tuesday- Cozy & Comfortable (Take time for yourself and relax)

Wednesday- Wild Wild West

Thursday- Throwback Thursday (WHS by grade level: 9th- 60’s, 10th- 70’s, 11th- 80’s, 12th- 90’s. K-8 can choose any throwback look they’d like.)

Friday- Wear blue and white for the district pep rally

Homecoming Parade

On Wednesday night, the annual homecoming parade will step off from the Washington High/Middle School campus and head down Elm Street, to Yeoman Street, then to Ogle Street, and East Street, before turning left onto Main Street before arriving at Gardner Park. The parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the Blue Lion Marching Band and Rhythm and Blue Dance Team, middle school and high school athletic teams, as well as the homecoming court.

Powder-puff Game

After the conclusion of the parade, Blue Lions in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to play or cheer in the annual Powder-puff Football Tournament. There is no cost for admission and all are welcome to come out and cheer on the Blue Lions.

District-Wide Pep Rally

Friday will be the annual District-Wide Pep Rally where all students in grades K-12 and staff members will be at Gardner Park getting ready for the homecoming football game. Activities will include students and staff alike.

Homecoming Football Game/Alumni Activities

Friday night’s game against Monroe will serve as this year’s homecoming game. Alumni band, dance team, football players and cheerleaders are invited to return to participate in this year’s game.

– Alumni band members can go to the district web page under the alumni section for information. Please email Mr. Stanley at [email protected] for information.

– Alumni dance team members who would like to participate should email coach Haley Hixson at [email protected]

– Alumni cheerleaders who have already signed up should be at the field at 6 p.m. to cheer on the Blue Lions.

– Alumni football players are invited to help form the tunnel to cheer the entrance of the Blue Lions. They should line up outside of the playing field fence at 6:40 p.m.

Homecoming Dance

This year’s Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 from 8-10 p.m. at WHS with the doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by WHS students this week during the school day. Guests from other schools must have their guest form filled out and returned prior to purchasing tickets.

There will be pictures and videos from these events on the Washington Court House City Schools’ Facebook page throughout the week.
