WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE — The cast, crew, and staff of “Madagascar Jr.” welcomes the community to come witness the magic and fun of theatre, presented by The Encore Foundation, Summer Youth Theatre of Washington Court House.

On Saturday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 3 p.m., the Historic Washington Auditorium will feature 26 youths of Washington Court House (ages 10-18) in a fun-filled, family-friendly musical adventure of New York City’s Central Park Zoo animals, who find themselves on an unexpected journey to the East African Island of Madagascar.

The production is directed by Kevin Evans and David Scott.

Alex, the lion (Will White) is the king of the urban jungle, and the main attraction at the New York Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty, the Zebra (Isaiah Wightman), Melman, the Giraffe (Shiloh Grim), and Gloria, the Hippo (Desaray Williams) — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some amazing penguins (Annie Rayburn, Molly Preston, Evie Wiseman, and Alice Racine) — to explore the world. The madcap world of Queen Julien’s (Ozlyn Racine’s) Madagascar gives Alex and all his zoo friends new challenges and opportunities they never imagined.

Additional cast members singing, dancing, and playing a wide variety of other zoo animals, characters and Madagascar inhabitants, include Christy Butcher, Remington Butcher, Alivia Dawson, Lily Dawson, Kaiya Griffith, Titus Grim, June Maddux, Ava Merritt, Alexia Morse, Sophia Morse, Colton Osborne, Hannah Preston, Megan Reed, Callie Sever, Brennin Smith, Will Vernon, Taylor Wiggins, Channing Wightman, and Ryley Wiseman.
