This week, I’m going to take you back to the 70s. A different time in history, that’s for sure. The great scandal was the Watergate break-ins. As a matter of fact, it was so famous and so scandalous, someone came up with the idea of creating a cake and naming it after that!
This cake feels like summertime, refreshing and light. A unique taste all on its own. The first time I made it, we all liked it. I served it at our Sunday dinner table. Everyone agreed the only way it could be better would be with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
It’s a perfect dessert for a cookout, carry-in and yes, that famous Sunday dinner table. You can’t go wrong serving this delicious cake.
Watergate Cake
1 box of white cake mix.
1 box of instant pudding (pistachio)
1 cup of 7-up
1 cup oil
3 eggs
Directions:
Stir together the cake mix and the pudding, put a hole in the middle of the mix and dump in 7-up, oil, and eggs. Beat with mixer for 4 minutes.
Pour in a 9×13 greased baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
Icing
1 large package of Dream Whip
1 cup cool whip
1 Package of Instant pistachio pudding
Directions
Mix dream whip according to package directions. Mix in cool whip and pudding until well blended.
Spread over completely cooled cake.
