HILLSBORO — On Saturday morning, April 22, The Washington Middle School track and field teams traveled to compete in the Big Ernies Middle School Invitational at Hillsboro High School.

There were a total of nine teams that participated, including Hillsboro, Washington, Paint Valley, North Adams, Fairfield, Eastern Brown, Whiteoak, and Wilmington. Hillsboro also had a B team that competed.

For the girls, Hillsboro won the meet with a team score of 129, followed by Washington with 89.5, Paint Valley with 80, North Adams with 79.5, Fairfield with 78, Eastern Brown with 57, Wilmington with 38, Whiteoak with 36, and Hillsboro B with 11 points.

Eva Bennett of Washington was the girls high point scorer for the meet.

For the boys, Washington won the meet with a team score of 194 points, followed by Hillsboro with 144, North Adams with 56, Fairfield with 53, Wilmington with 52, Paint Valley with 39, Eastern Brown with 34, Whiteoak with 32, and Hillsboro B with 9 points.

Aden Osborne of Washington was the boys high point scorer for the meet.

Finishing in the top three individually for the Washington girls:

In the 100-meter dash, Eva Bennett won with a time of 13.96.

In the 200-meter dash, Eva Bennett won with a time of 29.29.

In the 400-meter dash, Elyse Day placed second with a time of 1:07.29.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Abigail Forsythe took third with a time of 19.53.

In the 200-meter hurdles, Abigail Forsythe won with a time of 33.27.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Cherilyn Maiden, Cheyenne Estep, Lauren Thompson, and Emma Murphy placed third with a time of 2:08.94.

The 4×400 meter relay team of Elyse Day, Anna Tackage, Eva Bennett, and Abigail Forsythe won with a time of 4:57.24.

Finishing in the top three individually for the Washington boys:

In the 100-meter dash, Aden Osborne won with a time of 12.47.

In the 200-meter dash, Kiontae Tyree won with a time of 25.58.

In the 400-meter dash, Aden Osborne won with a time of 58.61 and Wesley Gibbs took third with a time of 1:00.79.

In the 800-meter run, Wyatt Putney came in third with a time of 2:27.55.

In the 1600-meter run, Wyatt Putney took third with a time of 5:26.30.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Bradley Forsythe placed second with a time of 19.16.

In the 200-meter hurdles, Eduardo Navarrete won with a time of 31.81 and Bradley Forsythe came in second with a time of 32.06.

The 4×100 meter relay team of Leighton Anderson, Austin Jones, Jackson Everhart, and Caleb Brown came in second with a time of 51.14.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Leighton Anderson, Samuel Pfeifer, Jackson Everhart, and Caleb Brown won with a time of 1:48.00.

The 4×400 meter relay team of Wesley Gibbs, Caiden Justice, David Bennett, and Nathan Reed won with a time of 4:13.44.

The 4×800 meter relay team of David Bennett, Caiden Justice, Ethan Miteff, and Channing Wightman finished in second with a time of 10:46.43.

In the high jump, Aden Osborne won with a jump of 5’ and Samuel Pfeifer took second with a jump of 4’10”.

In the pole vault, Cooper Heidler came in second with a vault of 8’6” and Bradley Forsythe took third with a vault of 8’6”.

In the long jump, Kiontae Tyree placed second with a jump of 17’10”.

In the shot put, Henry Killien won with a throw of 38’3” and Anthony Burns came in second with a throw of 34’9”.

In the discus, Anthony Burns won with a throw of 110’3”.

Washington will compete again on Monday, April 24 at Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m.
