Chillicothe softball tops Lady Lions

The Washington Lady Lion varsity softball team hosted Chillicothe for a Frontier Athletic Conference game Wednesday, April 19.

Chillicothe won the game, 14-5.

Morgan Webb was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cavs. She pitched seven innings with four hits and five runs (three earned) with two walks and 13 strikeouts.

Madison Haithcock pitched seven innings for Washington and allowed 14 runs (11 earned) on 16 hits with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Chillicothe led 13-0 when Washington got on the board with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Washington had hits from Haithcock, Adysun Bartruff, Addison Knisley and Jordan Mead.

Haithcock, Knisley, Abby Wilson, Mikhaylee Ragland and Madison Martin each scored one run for Washington. Knisley was credited with one RBI.

For Chillicothe, Bella Riffe went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and four RBI.

Bree Cousins had three hits and scored one run; Vivian Morgan, Mikayla Spaulding, Madison Harrod and Webb each had two hits. Harrod hit a double and Webb hit a home run.

Morgan, Spaulding, Julie Lemaster, Webb, Cousins, Madeline Johnson and Alyssa Dudley each scored one run for Chillicothe.

Washington (1-12 overall, 0-6 in the FAC) is scheduled to host Madison Plains Thursday, April 20, Hillsboro Friday and play McClain at Mitchell Park in Greenfield Monday.
