Washington Fire Department reports

The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

Jan 21 – 1809 Columbus Ave.

FD was dispatched for a fire alarm activation. FD was cancelled prior to arrival.

Jan 19 – 186 Eastview Dr.

FD received station tones for the odor of smoke in a residence. FD arrived on scene and found no smoke coming from the residence. FD met with the occupant, and he advised FD members that he was smelling smoke or something in the front room area. FD made their way into the residence and investigated. FD looked through the house. Garage, attic, and crawl space with a thermal imaging camera. FD investigation didn’t detect anything hot or any smoke in the residence at the time of investigation. FD did a check for a natural gas leak and detected a leak in the area of the gas fireplace in the front room. FD shut the gas off to the fireplace. FD told the occupant to leave the gas fireplace off and to have repairs made.

Jan 17 – 1809 Columbus Ave.

FD was dispatched to a fire alarm activation. On arrival, no smoke or fire was showing, and staff advised FD that it was a false alarm. FD advised staff of the false alarm ordinance and provided recommendations to resolve the ongoing issue.

Jan 15 – US 35 Eastbound on Ramp

FD responded to a semi-trailer brake fire. On arrival, FD found a semi-trailer that was unhooked from the tractor. The driver used a fire extinguisher prior to FD arrival to extinguish the fire. FD checked the trailer with a thermal imaging camera. FD stood by until the trailer was removed from the roadway.

Jan 14— 200 Blk E Court St.

FD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. On arrival, FD found two cars with minor damage and no fluid leaks. FD stood by until EMS cleared the scene.

Jan 14— 1809 Columbus Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a fire alarm, building one. FD did not find any smoke or fire at the time of arrival and noted no evacuation. FD made contact with staff who advised of a false alarm.

Jan 13— 84 mm US 35 W

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a vehicle into a concrete barrier, traveling westbound near the on ramp. FD found a single vehicle upright, on all four wheels, pulled off to the north side of the westbound lane and facing west with no smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD established a safe work area and confirmed with the driver there were no injuries. FD assisted other agencies on the scene.

Jan 13— 1399 SR 753 SE

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a single vehicle rollover, vehicle currently upright and occupant is out of the vehicle. FD found a single vehicle off the west side of the southbound lane facing east, upright and on all four wheels with no smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD created a safe work area, provided scene lighting and was informed by officers from the Washington Police Department there was no entrapment nor injury complaints. FD checked the vehicle for safety and assisted other agencies on the scene.

Jan 13— E Market St.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a two-vehicle accident with injuries, no airbag deployment. FD found both vehicles upright, on all four wheels with no smoke or fire at the time of arrival. Both vehicles were off to the north side of the westbound lane with one facing east and the other facing west. FD established a safe working area, provided scene lighting, controlled the flow of traffic and was informed by officers of the Washington Police Department that one passenger was trapped. FD stabilized the vehicle and extricated the occupant. FD assisted other agencies on the scene as needed.
