‘United we stand, divided we fall’

A popular song had the following lyrics:

“For united we stand, divided we fall

And if our backs should ever be against the wall

We’ll be together, together, you and I.”

Though this song was referring to a relationship between a man and a woman, it is true in every relationship because it is a biblical principle.

Genesis 11:6 And the Lord said, “indeed the people are one and they have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

This is a statement made by God early in the history of mankind. It is still true today. You can see it in sports, businesses, and government. It is one of the absolute truths that have stood since creation. It has been proven time and time again. Truth will always be truth. Styles and opinions will come and go, but truth will not. Facts are facts and we need to know the facts.

Matthew 12:25 Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself cannot stand!”

This is a statement made by the son of God while He was experiencing life in a human body. It is so true today. Nothing can be accomplished when people are pulling in opposite directions. Over 6,000 years ago God made an absolute statement about unity and over 2,000 years ago Jesus made an absolute statement about division. Both have been proven true through the entire existence of mankind. This is a fact! Truth is established by facts and knowledge of these facts cannot be found in division. In division both sides are convinced that their opinion is truth. We desperately need to know the facts to have one mind and avoid the catastrophe that comes through division.

The facts we all need can be found in the Holy Bible. It is the manual for mankind. It will lead and guide us into all truth. Why are so many trying to do away with the source of absolute truth?

These are the issues we look into at The Gathering Place every Wednesday evening at 7 and Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 10:30. We have youth group and recovery class every Sunday evening at 6. Come and be with us.
