






The Fayette County Master Gardener Volunteers (FCMGV) sponsored the eighth-annual Daylily Show in nine years on July 9 and it was another successful year.
The Horticulture Specimen Single Scape classes had 124 entries. There were 20 entries in the Artistic Design classes. The Off-scape Specimen classes had 20 entries. There were 17 exhibitors.
Jane Adkins, the former Fayette County resident, Jane Pond judged the show. The Off-scape Specimen classes were judged as a People’s Choice award. Thirty-five people attended the judging and admired the daylilies.
Class premiums were $4 for first place, $3 for second place, and $2 for third place. There were 10 section awards. Section winners received a gift certificate from Darby Creek Daylilies.
The show had three Best of Show awards of $50 each. The winners were Best of Show for Horticulture Specimen Single Scape, Melina Kopczewski; Best of Show Artistic Design, Debbie Hurst; and Sweepstakes, Elaine Crutcher. The Peoples’ Choice Off-scape Specimen award went to Larry Pastor.
The Fayette County Master Gardener Volunteers have already met to begin planning the show for 2023.
