The Fayette County Genealogical Society would like to announce the newest members of their Lineage Societies.

Those societies are the First Families of Fayette County open to anyone who can prove their relationship to an ancestor who resided in Fayette County by Dec. 31, 1820, the Century Families of Fayette County open to anyone who can prove their relationship to an ancestor who resided in Fayette County by Dec. 31, 1916, and the Civil War Families of Fayette County. The Civil War Families of Fayette County is open to anyone who can prove their relationship to an ancestor who served in the Civil War for the Union or the Confederacy between April 12, 1861 and April 18, 1865 and who served out of Fayette County or lived in Fayette County.

Kitturah Lutes Westenhouser of Lancaster, Ohio was accepted into the Century Families of Fayette County Lineage Society for her ancestor Leona Beatrice Oswald Lutes (1912-1996).

Senath Rankin of Columbus, Ohio has been accepted into the Civil War Families of Fayette County for her ancestor Thomas Rankin (1828-1912) who served in the Union Ohio 60th Volunteer Infantry. Ms. Rankin was accepted into the First Families of Fayette County Society for her ancestor, another grandfather, Thomas Rankin (1793-1845). Finally, Ms. Rankin was accepted into the Century Families of Fayette County Society for her ancestor Richard Post Rankin (1916-1971).

Robert Grim of Sabina, Ohio was accepted into the Civil War and Century Families Lineage Societies. William F. Grim (1844-1909) served as a Union soldier in Company K of the 8th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry. Several of Mr. Grim’s ancestors lived in Fayette County at least 100 years ago and qualified for the Century Society. They include Raymond Grim (1909-1965), George W. Grim (1873-1957), Cora Belle Truitt Grim (1881-1972), Ella Jane Rodgers Truitt (1861-1940), Alexander Grim (1815-1896), William F. Grim (1844-1909), and Martha Jane Morgan Grim (1845-1923).

Graham Roberts and his son Bryan Graham Roberts of Washington Court House were also accepted into the Civil War and Century Families Lineage Societies. The Roberts’ ancestor Edward Rollins (1836-1912) served in the Civil War Union US 5th Regiment Company A Colored Infantry. The Roberts’ were accepted into the Century Lineage Society for their ancestors Charles Ryan (1870-1937), Nellie Rollins Ryan (1871-1955), and Marjorie Ursella Ryan (1915-1990).

The Society appreciates the hard work of all these new Lineage Society members and for their contributions to the history of Fayette County.

Those accepted into these societies are usually inducted at the Annual Lineage Dinner in May of each year. Due to the COVID pandemic the ceremony was postponed until the December Holiday Dinner. Unfortunately, with the surge in the pandemic this year’s December dinner has been cancelled as well. The Society is in hopes to induct these new members and any additional new members in 2021.
