According to reports, the Washington C.H. Police Department responded to the following calls:
Feb. 2
Assault: At 6:50 a.m., a man reported that he was assaulted by his former girlfriend, Glenna G. Shortridge. He was referred to the city solicitor for the filing of charges.
Theft: At 6:56 p.m., Mikka D. Winters was arrested after she attempted to depart Walmart with merchandise that she had not paid for.
Theft: At 11:07 p.m., employees of United Dairy Farmers reported that an unknown male departed the store with merchandise that he had not paid for.
Jan. 31
Domestic Violence: At 9:18 p.m., officers responded to a residence in reference to a domestic between two brothers. It was determined that Shawn Welch assaulted his brother. Welch was arrested for domestic violence.
Theft: At 10:36 p.m., officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Officers made contact with the complainant, who advised that unknown persons stole a vacuum and departed the business without paying. A theft report was completed.
Criminal Trespass/Obstructing Official Business/Resisting Arrest/Aggravated Menacing/Disorderly Conduct: At 11:26 p.m., officers responded to Winkin Willys in reference to a male who was advised to depart but refused. Officers made contact with James Pettiford to advise him to depart, at which time he became disorderly. As officers were attempting to arrest Pettiford, he fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. He continued to resist arrest and threatened the lives of the officers involved. Ieshia Pettiford was also arrested due to her interfering with the arrest of James Pettiford. Both were charged accordingly.
Jan. 30
Theft: At 2:34 p.m., Chelsea Utley reported that sometime the day prior, unknown persons stole her Apple watch from her residence. A theft report was completed.
Theft: At 11:45 p.m., Alan Bailey reported that while at Pettits on East Court Street, unknown persons stole property out of his vehicle. A suspect vehicle was identified and the incident is under investigation.
