‘Art on the Square’ coming Aug. 11

Art on the Square (AOTS) held a pop-up gallery at the Fayette County Farmers’ Market recently to promote the upcoming art show.

AOTS is an art show where local artists and community members spend the day showcasing their artistic abilities painting mural-sized canvases. These canvases will be displayed in historic downtown Washington Court House. At the pop-up gallery, murals from 2017 (AOTS) were on display. Farmers’ Market customers painted on a canvas like the ones used at the event. Artists could register for the show.

The show will be on Aug. 11 and is located at 105 N. Main St. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Painting begins at 9 a.m. on Main Street between Court and Market streets. Artists under the age of 15 must paint with an adult.

Registration on or before Aug. 4 is recommended since the number of registrations is limited. The advanced registration fee for the day is $10. Supplies provided include a four-by-four foot primed board, basic painting supplies, and an AOTS t-shirt. Walk-ins the day of the show are encouraged but may be limited by availability of supplies. The fee for walk-ins will be $15.

The AOTS event is supported by grants, businesses and individual donations, and is still in need of sponsorships. In addition, AOTS is accepting applications for food and craft vendors.

Join them at the pop-up gallery scheduled for Aug. 4 at the Fayette County Farmers’ Market. Watch for unscheduled pop-ups around town. To request a registration form or vendor application form, contact Chelsie Baker at 740-505-0216 or [email protected].
