Washington Garden Club met recently at the home of Linda Warfield, the club’s secretary. Guests were invited; Debbie Carr, Fayette Garden Club and Region 16 director, and Carol Gordy, Hillsboro Garden Club, also attended. Four members of the garden club joined in to have a luncheon meeting.

They all met to organize the Fall Region 16 meeting for Oct. 11. This will be hosted by both clubs of Fayette County. It is a special day, semi-annually, that informs members of new information on gardening and events. It is a time to meet other members in 11 clubs of 200-plus people.

The state president, Geri Rae, attends and informs the group of upcoming events. At the recent meeting, the group discussed each of the areas that make up the day’s events. The ladies volunteered to take charge of several of these. The two clubs will work for the next several months.

The day continued with a raffle of a “Fairy Garden.” The winner was Winnie Gregory. The funds were given to Washington Garden Club Treasury.

A movie was shown on the Philadelphia Horticulture Flower Show 2018. The theme was “Wonders of Waters,” followed by multi-landscapes with ponds, waterfalls and fountains in a very artistic way; along with thousands of fresh flowers and plants of the “Superheroes” of the horticulture world.

The flower show was the “Best” of horticulture designs using water, succulents and cactus. This is on display for a week during the month of March annually. It is seen by thousands of people every spring.

The next Washington Garden Club meeting will be July 3. Joan Rodgers will be hosting. The site will be the T.A. Center private dining room; noon for lunch. Anyone interested can call Linda Warfield at 937-675-9029.
