‘The Sandy Tar Brothers’ are coming to the Market


The Fourth of July weekend Saturday is an important morning at the Fayette County Farmers’ Market. This Saturday, July 1, there will be many vendors in attendance with outstanding produce, baked goods, crafts (decorative and functional), furniture, games, flowers/vegetable/herb plants, honey, essential oils, soap, jewelry and more.

Adding a extra level of festivity, the Sandy Tar Brothers, an Ohio-based old time bluegrass band will be playing from 9-11:30 a.m. These talented and highly sought-after musicians are currently on tour but are taking time out to play in Fayette County this weekend. Adults and children of all ages are sure to enjoy the sounds of banjo, mandolin, guitar, upright washtub bass and vocals. Get ready to simply listen, tap your feet, snap your fingers, or kick up your heels in the walkway. Whatever your style, don’t miss this special, and FREE event. The Market is open every Saturday morning from 8:30 to noon and is located in the municipal parking lot on the corner of South Main and East East streets. SNAP EBT food benefit cards, Senior Farm Market coupons and credit/debit cards are accepted—stop by the Jones Farm Fresh Produce for assistance. Those using the SNAP EBT card receive matching dollar VeggieSNAP tokens, $1 for $1 up to $10 EVERY market day! These VeggieSNAP tokens may then be used to purchase fresh produce.

The following list contains the names and products of the vendors that expect to set up for the Saturday Market. Other vendors may participate as well.

DeBruin Family Dairy (Grant and Toni DeBruin): Gourds, fresh herbs, organic butter, wildflower cards, chocolate chip cookies, seasonal produce.

Engedi (Beth Day, Alana Walters, Janet Bick): Assorted home baked goods (cinnamon rolls, bread, yeast rolls, cookies, pies, brownies, cobblers, whoopie pies,small specialty bread), Icees, chemical free soap, and a children’s activity.

Forgotten Way Farms (Cathy Ludi): DoTERRA essential oils, homemade soap, laundry detergent concentrate, bath salts and bombs, balms, wooded decor, and homemade organic vanilla extract.

Greens & Greenery (Katrina Bush): Produce grown using organic practice: fresh garlic and garlic braids, kale, chard, beets, turnips, summer squash, Egyptian walking onion sets. Herb plants including lavender and mints. Peanut Butter & Honey cookies and walnut/honey pastry (baklava).

Jones Farm Fresh Produce (Jon & Taylor Jones): Candy onions, cabbage, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, red potatoes, beets, pork chops, sweet Italian brats, ground pork, sausage patties, chicken breast, wings and eggs.

Keypoint Farm (Nevin Stauffer & family): Seasonal produce including cabbage, red and green tomatoes, green bean, green peppers, cucumbers, green and candy onions, peaches.

King Farms (Jeff and Sandi King): Broccoli, red and Yukon potatoes, beets, radishes, spinach, as well as homemade iced sugar and chocolate chip cookies, and homemade peach, cherry and pecan pies.

Persinger Produce and Cottage Foods (David Perisnger and Julie Mosny): Pies, cinni mini’s pecan sticky buns, cinnamon rolls and local raw honey.

This and That (Mary Ford): J&P candles and tarts, garden and home crafts (goose dresses, coasters, mug rugs, aprons, OSU items, jewelry), baked goods (apple butter bread, PB fudge).

Wood by DW (Debbie Welch): Wood primitives and sewn-kitchen crafts.

Your Other Mother’s Kitchen (Don & Sara Creamer): Artisan Breads, Whole Wheat Brownie Tarts, and Bran Muffin Tops.

B.Y.E Gardens (Brian & Elaine Yoder): Variety of baked goods including cinnamon rolls, decorated sugar cookies, pies, breads, as well as homegrown popcorn and cold drinks.

By Thy Hand (Mark & Lori Chrisman): Angel food cakes, pies, assorted breads, croutons, snickerdoodles, seasoning & dip mixes, recycled pallet crates & boxes.

Chilcote Farm (Bruce & Marlene Chilcote): Honey, caramels, brownies and sheet cakes.

Dale’s Crafts (Dale Butler): rustic benches, red, white, & blue benches, swinging chair, Uncle Sam, serving trays, outdoor games (washer toss, corn hole bags and boards, yard yahtzee), Adirondack chair.

Daniel’s Honey (Daniel Surina): Raw honey.

D.J.’s Farm (Dennis Anschutz): Baked goods and seasonal produce.
