Overcast skies can eventually affect our attitude. I remember a few years ago we had a two-week tour across Canada. We came down out of Canada for a concert in Seattle then worked our way home. This concert tour was in the middle of October and the fall rains had started.

We had some sunshine but for the most part we had overcast skies and rain. We unloaded and loaded our production equipment in the cold rain day after day. I was getting daily calls from home that we had leaks in some of our rental properties, which were ruining ceilings.

That was a long two weeks as I was forced to deal with the urgency of getting roofs repaired at home from 3,000 miles away and preparing myself for our concerta after being rained on.

There are times that our lives are like that Canada tour.

It seems that there is a cloud over our heads and everything that can go wrong does go wrong. When we are in the middle of these troubles, it is very difficult to see anything but the grey skies. It is as if we were in the middle of a thick pine forest and there doesn’t seem to be a way out. Every way you look there is more of the same. It is easy to throw up our hands in despair and check out.

That Canadian trip has now been behind me for a few years and looking back it does not seem so bad. We made every date, had great crowds, and all of the leaking roofs and damaged ceilings were eventually repaired.

Are those dark clouds of life just a temporary condition? Does our life cycle much like the weather patterns? Do you realize that the sun is always shining above the overcast skies?

These and other life questions will be addressed Sunday morning as “The Gathering Place Family” meets in the Washington High School Library for Bible Study at 9:30 and in the gymnasium at 10 a.m. for our Pre-Service Connection where we enjoy coffee, juice and donuts. Our Worship Service and Children’s Church then begins at 10:30. Come at 7 p.m. and be part of our Wednesday night Bible Study and Children’s Ministry on the third floor above Trends at 120 W. Court St. in Washington Court House.
