Fayette County celebrates Memorial Day

Dynamic Mention Drum Corps from Circleville joined the New Holland Memorial Day festivities during the village’s annual parade Monday.

Children were encouraged to decorate bikes and join the parade in New Holland as it made its way to the cemetery.

Several kids also joined by waving flags from the back of trucks which showed their support and remembrance of the brave U.S. soldiers who gave their lives.

Fayette County celebrated Memorial Day over the weekend with multiple ceremonies and parades. Washington C.H. Municipal Court Judge Victor Pontious Jr. attended and spoke at the Jeffersonville Memorial Ceremony on Monday.

Mark Hoppes, chairman of the Jeffersonville Memorial Day celebration, welcomed the crowd Monday morning.

The Miami Trace High School band played several selections for the crowd during the Jeffersonville Memorial Day ceremony.

State Rep. Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) also attended the Jeffersonville Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday and spoke about his recent trip to Washington D.C. and the importance of remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Washington C.H. City Manager Joe Denen spoke during the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Old Washington Cemetery on Friday.

The Washington High School band performed for the crowd Friday at the Old Washington Cemetery.

Bloomingburg also celebrated Memorial Day Monday with Camp Casey and Masonic Lodge members.
