Lady Panther softball tops Astros, 14-2

On Tuesday, April 4, the Miami Trace varsity softball team hosted the Astros of East Clinton in an SCOL match-up.

The Lady Panthers won the game, 14-2 in five innings.

Maddie Mossbarger was the winning pitcher for Miami Trace.

She pitched five innings allowing two runs (both earned) with five hits, no walks and four strikeouts.

The Lady Panthers had 11 hits, led by Ashley Campbell, going 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Brooke Henry went 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored and Jessica Camp went 2 for 2 with three runs and three RBI. One of her hits was a double.

Taylor Barrett hit a triple for Miami Trace.

After East Clinton scored in the top of the first, Miami Trace scored seven runs in the bottom of the second.

The Lady Panthers added one run in the third and posted another crooked number with six runs in the fourth.

East Clinton scored one run in the fifth.

“I’m very proud of how the team is playing and the rotation of kids have been playing together as a team,” Miami Trace head coach Joe Henry said.

The Lady Panthers are back in action Monday at Clinton-Massie and then have a Strike Out Cancer game at home against the Lady Blue Lions of Washington High School Wednesday at 5 p.m.
