The Washington Blue Lion boys soccer team had its final SCOL match against Wilmington Thursday at Washington High School.
Much of the match, at least in the second half, was played in a pouring rain.
Wilmington won the match, 10-1.
The Hurricane led the Blue Lions 6-0 at halftime.
Blaise Tayese scored for Washington five minutes into the second half. There was no assist given.
Wilmington clinches a co-championship in the SCOL, improving to 11-0.
“Wilmington is a very strong team, especially offensively,” Washington head coach Aaron Teter said. “I was proud that we tested their defense a few times, which was an improvement over our last game.
“A lot of the game, we were right with them,” Teter said. “But, there were a lot of times when their talent just took over, too.”
Washington (now 6-6 overall, 5-5 in the SCOL) will play at McClain High School in Greenfield Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Blue Lions will host Miami Trace Thursday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
