FCMH Auxiliary holds meeting

Fayette County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary President Pat Gall brought the meeting to order by having the scholarship committee introduce the recipients of the 2016 scholarships given by Fayette County Memorial Hospital.

The committee, made up of Barbara Vance, Joyce Lott and Jodie Hanawalt, introduced Michaela Liff of Miami Trace and Taylor Leisure of Washington C.H. The scholarships always go to someone who is going to study some form of medicine. Michaela plans to go to the University of Toledo to study nursing and Taylor plans to go to Ohio State and become a surgeon.

Pat asked if the group had noticed the new beautiful flower arrangements in the front lobby. Everyone was very appreciative of the new flowers and the general feeling was to buy new ones for the fall season. Jean Ann volunteered the gift shop to pay half of the cost and auxiliary pay half.

Brenda Hughes brought the group up to date on hospital activities. The hospital is getting close to choosing a new CEO. They are down to two prospects and the choice should be made by July.

Brenda reported that census numbers are high and finances are good. The joint commission was in early for their inspection and FCMH fared well. Dr. Jinks is leaving for another situation in his career. Some of the ER doctors are staying here with the new group.

Jeanne Immell gave the secretary’s report. Sherry Ferguson gave the treasurer’s report. The report was approved by the president. Jean Ann Davis gave the gift shop report. All reports were approved by the president.

If we haven’t picked up our new membership books we are supposed to pick them up soon. The president thanked Brenda.

Susan explained the stuffed animals. They have little FCMH purple jackets on like the volunteers wear. They are also farm animals for the first time.

We only have one “volunteen” for the summer. Jessica Arnett is volunteering each Wednesday in Chelsie Hornsby’s office. Reports from the volunteers: Susan Mitchell informed the group that they need volunteers in ER. They also need volunteers in PT and the coffee cart. Actually each site could use volunteers except the gift shop.

The first Books Are Fun sale in April was good. Bargain Bonanza will be held June 17, 2016, by the Books Are Fun company. All items are priced at $5.99. The next Books Are Fun sale will be Thursday and Friday, Sept. 15 and 16. Masquerade Jewelry Sale will be Oct. 14, 2016. All sales are held in the board room of the hospital.

The next meeting will be Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. in the Medical Arts Building I.
