Bottorff named Record-Herald general manager

Katie Bottorff, former account manager for the American Red Cross Central Ohio Blood Region, has been named the general manager of the Washington C.H. Record-Herald/Shopper’s Guide. The announcement was made recently by Ralph Martin, CEO of Civitas Media, the newspaper’s parent company.

Bottorff has deep roots in this community. She was born and raised in Fayette County and spent nearly nine years with the Red Cross, where she was also the chapter director in Fayette County and later served as a territory manager, primarily in Fayette and Madison counties.

Bottorff also worked at Hospice of Fayette County as the fundraiser and supportive services coordinator. She now brings her marketing and community relations expertise to the Record-Herald.

“I’ve been very fortunate to work the last 12 years in service-oriented jobs because that’s what I love,” said Bottorff. “To have a thriving community, we have to have a thriving community newspaper and I am committed to continuing that tradition and improving on what we’ve done in the past. I’m thrilled to take on this role with my hometown newspaper.”

Bottorff is taking the reins as general manager from former interim general manager Kim Penwell, who will remain with the Record-Herald in her new role as senior advertising representative.

Civitas Media also recently announced that Sherri Sattler, who served as advertising director of the Washington C.H. Record-Herald/Shopper’s Guide for nine years before becoming the director of advertising sales with Civitas Media, has been promoted to VP Advertising. Sattler will continue to work with advertising managers to help develop all local controllable sales segments. She will also assume responsibility for helping to set advertising goals and commissions.

Also, Candis Lindsey, formerly an advertising sales representative with the Record-Herald, has become part of the corporate advertising team as advertising & marketing administrator. She will handle commissions and goals for all Civitas Media properties as well as many other tasks to help provide support to the sales field. While assuming her new responsibilities, Lindsey will still be working from the Fayette County area.
