Groundhog Breakfast set for Feb. 2

The Fayette County Chamber of Commerce has announced the speakers for its annual Groundhog Breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Mahan Building that includes two local speakers and the widely-known “Machinery Pete” from Minnesota.

The annual breakfast, with corporate sponsorship from McDonald’s of Fayette County, will begin at 7 a.m. Guests will first hear from Jamie Gentry, partner with Enterprise Advisory Group, followed by Mike Cooper of OhioMeansJobs Fayette County.

Gentry has worked for several years with the county to develop and market the 1,600 acres site known as M2C2 (Midwest Mega Commerce Center). Gentry will provide an update on the certification process of this site and other updates of this, and a smaller site in the city’s industrial park that is also in the certification process. New developments at these sites will mean a need for employees.

Cooper, new manager of the Fayette County office of OhioMeansJobs office, will share trends and training opportunities offered by OhioMeansJobs to help fill workforce needs.

Featured speaker of the morning is Greg Peterson, or “Machinery Pete” from Minnesota, and his appearance is sponsored by several local agriculture businesses: Anderson Equipment, Baxla Tractor, Beck’s Hybrids, Cargill, Mayer Farm Equipment, and Ohio Ag Equipment.

Machinery Pete is the premier online destination for farmers and equipment dealers. Peterson has been tracking auction sale prices on all types of farm and construction equipment since 1989. His price database of more than 500,000 prices is sourced through firsthand data and a curated network of more than 950 auction firms.

In addition to Peterson’s proprietary content for Farm Journal, the company provides auction-data subscriptions, publishes the annual “Classic Tractor” and “Annual Auction” price guides, publishes the Quarterly Used Values Index report for the financial community, produces the weekly Machinery Pete TV program distributed on RFD-TV, produces farm equipment DVDs as well as provides custom consulting and appearances services.

Tickets for the breakfast are $25 for chamber members, $35 for non-members. RSVPs must be received by Monday, Jan. 25 and can be made by calling the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce office at (740) 335-0761.
