Paint Township to vote on fiscal officer

Paint Township residents will be voting for fiscal officer at the Nov. 3 general election with two seeking the position.

Incumbent Richard D. Barton is seeking re-election to the position. Barton is a Fayette County native and owner of Barton Farm Machinery Repair, where he works on all types of farm equipment for locals. This coming April, Barton will have served in the capacity of fiscal officer for 24 years and said he would really like one more term.

“I have helped to save the money in the township these last 24 years,” Barton said. “I have really enjoyed doing it and it is a lot of work. I have been in there for awhile and throughout we have enjoyed doing our jobs and would like to continue doing them. I have been lucky to be paired with the trustees we have. We all get along well together.”

Barton said he will continue to put his signs out and pass out pads and pencils. He is going to continue to run his campaign as it is and said their really are no politics in the race.

“It is not a Republican, Democrat kind of race. We are doing our jobs,” Barton said. “I think we have done great over these last few decades. I am looking forward to continue working for the township and hope everyone makes it out to vote.”

Attempts to contact challenger Tonya D. Fleak were unsuccessful.
