In a game that was originally scheduled to be played at Westfall, the Washington Lady Blue Lion soccer team hosted the Mustangs Tuesday evening.
The teams battled to a 3-3 tie.
Wendy Hawk scored all three goals for Washington, including one on a penalty kick.
The game was tied 2-2 at the half.
Washington scored with about eight minutes to play in the game.
However, Westfall was able to tie the game with around four minutes remaining.
“We’re pretty banged up,” Washington head coach Tyler Rhodus said.
So much so, in fact, that Washington played most of the game with 10 players (one player short of the full compliment allowed).
“I thought the girls battled and faced adversity and stayed in the game,” Rhodus said. “We were in a position to win, even playing down.
“All-in-all, I was pleased with the effort,” Rhodus said. “Obviously, you want to win. It was tough tonight.
“We have to get ready now for Hillsboro in the tournament Tuesday,” Rhodus said. “We’re the underdogs; we have nothing to lose. We’ll see if we can go down there and score a couple of goals and put some pressure on them.”
Washington (2-13-1) will play in the Sectional tournament Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Hillsboro.
